The Oil Cleansing Method

The Oil Cleansing Method

We had a very cold and dry spell in Portland a few weeks ago.  Before that, I spent a VERY cold and dry week in New England.  I love this time regardless of the location, but my skin needs extra care to stay moist and replenished.

We carry both Livia and Epicuren skin care lines at our airport location and I’ve had fantastic success with both.  Recently I’ve been almost exclusively using Epicuren to experience the effects of the ‘results based line’ first hand. All of the products are top quality and SO many of them are at a much lower price point than you’d expect for such incredible results.  To top it all off, they are on the cutting edge of what the combination of nature and science can offer.

But, I digress.  I was talking about my dry skin.

I LOVE masks.  I’ll slather one on about three times a week and the Epicuren Hydrating Mineral Mask is my go to for dry skin.  It’s good for almost all skin types.  It can be used often and there is no limit to how long you can leave it on. For an extra added punch, I’ve taken to applying the mask and adding an ample amount of cold pressed sesame oil for a luxurious facial massage.

Sesame Oil is amazing in its own right…and not just for cooking.  It’s food for the skin.  It’s been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years.  It is anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, calming, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory.  It is rich in vitamin E, lecithin, minerals, proteins, and amino acids.

Topical application of sesame oil to the face helps to absorb toxins and helps to balance the skin rather than strip away the moisture level and leaving your skin dry with that tight feeling.  Some even swear by the “oil cleansing method” to clear up acne:

I’m fortunate enough to not have to deal with pimples too often, but switching to Epicuren and the occasional addition of sesame oil has made a noticeable difference in my skin’s luminosity.

Epicuren also has a fantastic variety of facial grade sunscreens with a variety of benefits and SPFs.  I slather some on every morning.

I have to say, neither I nor my skin fears cold weather.
